3rd International Student Conference 2024 Subjects

The European Capitals of Culture is a topic as rich as it is interesting.

Through getting to know each Capital City, students have the opportunity to get to know its tangible and intangible cultural heritage, its environment, as well as the scientists who lived or worked there. Wanting to give children the trigger to discover which topic interests them the most, we have enriched the thematic axes.

For the 3rd International Student Conference, the main Subject Categories are:

The 3rd International Student Conference will take place in Prague March 1 - 5, 2024. Only few seats are available. Please contact us if you wish to participate, or join our Waiting List.

Ι. The crossroads of European Culture

Indicative Topics:

European Capitals of Cultural
(e.g.: the value of the Institution, the economic/cultural/social utilization of the Institution, information on the Cultural Capitals, etc.)

Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Czech Republic and/or my country
(eg: What is “Intangible Cultural Heritage”, Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Czech Republic, Intangible Cultural Heritage of my country, or work on traditional songs or customs or traditions.)

The History of Prague
(each project will focus on a separate time section, e.g.: Middle Ages – Renaissance, 18th – 19th century, 20th century – Today, etc.)

Traditional Art of the Czech Republic and/or my country
(each work will refer to painting, or ceramics, or embroidery, or the traditional costumes of a country, etc.)

Monuments of Prague
(each work will refer to a monument)

Prague’s music scene
(eg: Mozart in Prague, what is the Opera, what is considered “pop” music by historical period, etc.)

Literature in Prague
(eg: common themes in literature by historical periods, work on the life of only one of all literary artists, etc.)

Gothic architecture
(eg: what is Gothic Form and how does it stand out? the evolution of the Gothic Form from the 12th c. until the 16th century, common elements of Gothic Rhythm and Victorian Style, etc.)

Art Nouveau
(eg: what do we call Art Nouveau, political and social interpretation of Art Nouveau, differences between Art Nouveau and Art Deco, from Art Nouveau to Cubism, etc.)

PROJECT INSTRUCTIONS

ΙΙ. In the 10 most sustainable and ``green`` cities in the world

Indicative Topics:

Sustainability in Prague
(e.g.: Prague and Sustainable Development Goals, information & education of citizens, resource management, public transport strategy, walking: emerging problems and solutions, the role of nutrition, etc.)

How to make my city “Green”
(each student group highlights an important problem of their city and proposes solutions)

Overpopulation and resource management

Astyphilia (urbanism)
(eg: the uneven distribution of the population and the effects on resource/waste management, solutions to improve urban living, individual & collective actions for a clean city, etc.)

Mass production
(eg: the technology/furniture/food/fashion industry and its environmental impact, factory pollutants VS pollutants from local businesses, etc.)

Environment and Health
(e.g.: quarantine and pollution reduction, climate change and health effects, ways to adapt and prevent extreme weather events, the Theory of Evolution: “can man adapt to the new environmental conditions?”, etc. )

ΙΙΙ. The ``cohabitation`` of Alchemy with pioneering Astronomers

Indicative Topics:

Alchemy and History
(each paper will focus on specific time periods, eg: Alchemy in antiquity 5000 BC – 600 AD, 142 AD – 1400 AD, 1300 AD – 1600 AD .)

Alchemy and Modern Science
(eg: early findings of the Alchemists, the legacy of Alchemy in modern Chemistry, Rutherford, the first artificial transmutation and the final “end” to the Alchemy utopia, etc.)

“Automata” and the evolution of Engineering
(English: singular: Automaton – plural: Automata. eg: what are “Automata”, Prague Astronomical Clock, “Automata” and modern robotics, etc.)

Astronomy in Prague
(eg: pioneering astronomers – Tycho Brahe, Johannes Kepler –, important discoveries, theories that changed Astronomy, etc.)

Pseudoscience
(eg: what is Pseudoscience and what are the differences with Science, pseudoscience and prejudices, suggestions for dealing with pseudoscience, etc.)
